Memories of the Past, Times of Change December 2
I will never forget that time of goodbyes of two years ago on DS9. When I rejoined the Great Link to heal my people from the disease Sector 31 had had me transmit to them; when I said my (temporary) farewell to Nerys, and when everyone on the station but Kira and Jake and a few others seemed to leave to do something else in life, while Captain Sisko had been temporarily (for 1 year) called by the Prophets and Jadzia was no longer one of us… Those were sad times for all of us, times when we thought we’d no longer see each other. But being separated for the whole lifetime wasn’t our destiny, it seems.
No, because the two years that followed that sad time became the most wonderful we’d ever expected to live: I returned to DS9 after a year spent with the Great Link, finding my beloved Nerys more in love with me than she’d ever been; also, I took back my old job as Security Chief. Jadzia was brought back to life, and that was a real miracle… I don’t know if from the prophets or from Dr. Bashir, but it was. She was no longer a ‘Dax’, since her symbiont had passed to Ezri Dax long time before, but it doesn’t matter: she’s still my friend Jadzia. Needless to say that she got back together with Worf, to his deep joy and happiness, and that Ezri and Jadzia became best friends. Captain Sisko came back from the Prophets’ heaven too, and he took command of the station back, since that was the decision of both Bajoran Government and Starfleet. He’s living now a happy life together with Jake, Cassidy and the little boy he had with her. And while Cardassia is being rebuilt, Garak came back on DS9 as well, re-taking his old tailoring shop, this time with the help of two Bajoran ladies at his dependance, and Damar coming to help from time to time, now that he and Garak are brothers by adoption. Finding out that Damar was alive was both a shock and a joy to all of us, when we found out, but it was clear that in the whole mess of the war, nobody noticed that Damar had just entered a coma, he didn’t die. As for Dr. Bashir, he’s the station doctor once again, and Chief O’Brien… well, he’s back on Earth with his family after he and his wife worked to rebuild Cardassia last year, but I heard of their plans to come back to live on the station once Yoshi will be three years old. For how much it may seem selfish of all of us, we all are looking forward to it. And now that my adoptive parents have made me, Garak, Damar and a child Dukat who the Prophets brought back to life… brothers… life is a lot more interesting.
Well, that’s all for this log. I’m now going to see Nerys and then Dr. Bashir, as it seems that he’s found a way to let eat and drink even as a Changeling, by making my cells use food to produce more energy. Interesting as it seems, it can’t wait any longer.
